Merchant & Mills Weekender Bag : Community Sew Along
A community sew-along for the Merchant & Mills Weekender Bag
The Merchant & Mills Weekender Bag is thoughtfully designed, beautifully utilitarian, and full of satisfying construction details. It’s the kind of make many of us want to start, but don’t always find the time to finish on our own.
That’s exactly why we’re hosting a Community Sew-Along.
About the Pattern
The Merchant & Mills Weekender Bag is a generous, practical tote designed for real life including overnight trips, studio days, or hauling your current knitting (or sewing) project from place to place. It pairs beautifully with sturdy fabrics like oilskin, waxed canvas, or heavy linen, and features thoughtful details that make it as enjoyable to use as it is to make.
This sew-along is a chance to explore the pattern together, share discoveries, and work through the details at a comfortable pace.
A Making-in-Community Sew-Along
This is not a traditional class and not a step-by-step workshop. Instead, it’s a structured series of Zoom meet-ups designed to help you:
-
set aside dedicated time for your project
-
make steady progress week by week
-
learn through doing
-
and feel supported while you sew
We’ll all be making this pattern for the first time, so this is truly a shared experience.
How the Sew-Along Works
We’ll meet for one hour each week over four weeks, creating built-in accountability to keep the project moving.
Dates & Times (EST):
-
Monday, March 30 | 7–8pm
-
Monday, April 13 | 7–8pm
-
Monday, April 20 | 7–8pm
-
Monday, April 27 | 7–8pm
Each session will have a loose focus:
-
prep & cutting
-
construction
-
assembly
-
finishing
You’re welcome to sew, listen, ask questions, or simply be in the room.
All Zoom sessions will be recorded and available for replay, and between meet-ups you’ll be encouraged to share updates, questions, and tips inside the online Studio community space.
