Our (Two) Location

Where is the workroom located?

the workroom Parkdale is located at 207 Cowan Avenue, Studio A behind the Parkdale Public Library.  At this location we offer a full selection of workshops, Sew by the Hour, machine servicing, scissor sharpening, mini shop with a curated selection of notions and fabric and free local pick up of online orders.

the workroom Sprucedale is located at 2501 ON 518 West, on the corner of Stisted Road across the street from the Sprucedale Post Office.  At this location we offer in person shopping of our complete inventory of patterns, notions and fabrics, a selection of workshops and free local pick up of online orders.

Is the workroom accessible?

the workroom Parkdale has moved into a building with a set of stairs at the entrance from the street level. If there is anything we can do to accommodate your needs, please do not hesitate to let us know in advance or by calling us when you arrive. 

the workroom Sprucedale has one step up into the building from the sidewalk out front. Please let us know if we can assist in any way when you arrive.

Where can I park?

Street parking is available all around the workroom Parkdale, primarily along Queen St. Please obey all traffic signs and ticket purchasing requirements. There is also a Green P parking lot beside the Dollarama at 1337 Queen Street West.

We have our own parking lot at the workroom Sprucedale! There should be plenty of space for you when you arrive. If the lot is full due to a larger event, street parking is available along the road in both directions and along Stisted Road, as well. 

Shopping

How is fabric priced?

Fabric is priced by the meter (1m = 39 inches in length x width of fabric).

Can I order less than a meter?

Yes, quilting cottons are sold in 1/4 meter increments with the minimum cut being a 1/4 meter.  Orders for 1/4m will be cut as a fat quarter unless otherwise requested.   Garment fabrics are sold in 1/4m increments with the minimum cut being a 1/2 meter.

What is a fat quarter?

A fat quarter is a quarter meter cut of fabric that measures approximately 20” x 22”.  Fat quarters are typically used in quilting projects.  All 1/4 meter cuts will be sent as fat quarters, unless requested otherwise at the time of ordering.

What if an item is out of stock?

For any item that is out of stock on our website you can set an alert to receive an automated email when it is back in stock.  To set the alert go to the product you are interested in, click on the pink NOTIFY ME WHEN AVAILABLE button and enter your email address.  You will receive an automated email when the item is back in stock and you can then place an order.

Does the workroom have a rewards program?

Yes!  Our Loyalty Rewards program automatically offers orders placed online rewards for every purchase over $100.

• For every purchase $100 or over - get a $10 credit
• For every purchase $200 or over - get a $20 credit
• For every purchase $300 or over - get a $30 credit
• For every purchase $500 or over - get a $50 credit

Please note! This program is a bonus for online shopping only. The reward is created automatically and we aren't able to combine two separate order totals or past orders to create a credit for you. Don't forget! The best way to track your rewards is to set up an account in our online shop and make sure you sign in for every purchase. Your rewards will automatically accumulate under your name. ​

Do you sell Gift Cards?

Gift cards for the workroom are available for purchase through our online shop. Our gift cards are electronic and can be sent directly to the recipient immediately or you can schedule a time. They never expire and can be redeemed towards any purchase at the workroom, including classes, fabric and supplies.

Where can I find the Online Gift Card I ordered?

An email including the gift card code is sent to the email address include with the original order (this is a separate email from the order confirmation email).  We find that these emails are sometimes caught by spam filters.  If you have not received the email with the gift card code in your regular inbox please check your junk folder prior to contacting us at shop@theworkroom.ca.

How can I redeem a paper Gift Card I received?

If you have an older the workroom gift card, it can be transferred to our online shop for you to access. To complete the transfer, you will need to REGISTER an account in our new online shop. Once you have your account set up, email us at makesomething [at] theworkroom.ca with your name and gift card number.

Do you offer local pick up of online orders?

Yes, we offer free local pick up at both our Parkdale and Sprucedale locations of online orders.  Online orders placed by 5:00pm on Tuesdays will be ready for pick up at our Parkdale location the following Saturday.  Regardless of the local pick up location you will receive an email confirmation when your order is ready for pick up.

When will my order ship?

We are currently shipping orders on Wednesdays & Fridays each week.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship internationally with Canada Post.

Classes

What is the class cancellation policy?

Class fees are non-refundable. Any cancellations or changes to your registration must be done at least 72 hours prior to the class start date in order to be issued a store credit. Cancellations that are made less than 72 hours before the class start date and students who do not show up to class will forfeit their class fee.

Are there class waiting lists and how do I add my name to one?

Yes, we have electronic class waiting lists that you can add your name to through the website.  To add your name click on the specific class you are interested in, click on the pink NOTIFY ME WHEN AVAILABLE button and enter your email address.  You will receive an automated email if space becomes available in that class and you can register online.  Spaces are filled on a first come, first served basis.
