2026 Challenge Series : A Year of Intentional Making : Virtual Gatherings

The Year of Intentional Making is an invitation to slow down and spend time working thoughtfully with what you already have, alongside a supportive community of makers doing the same.

Instead of chasing new projects, new supplies, or constant productivity, this series creates space to return to what’s already in progress and within reach: scraps, mending, stored fabric, unfinished garments, and well-loved pieces that deserve care.

What makes this series special is the shared experience.
Through regular check-ins and conversation, participants support one another, exchange ideas, and discover new approaches simply by seeing how others work within the same set of parameters.

Working with what you already have matters.
By setting clear, thoughtful constraints, creativity is sparked rather than limited. Makers are encouraged to problem-solve, experiment, and make more intentional decisions, often leading to unexpected ideas and renewed confidence.

Through five focused, bi-monthly challenges, you’ll be supported in:

  • finishing what’s ready to be finished

  • repairing and extending the life of what you love

  • repurposing materials with creativity and care

  • working through your stash with intention

Each challenge includes live virtual gatherings that offer:

  • dedicated time to work together

  • space for conversation and reflection

  • gentle accountability without pressure

The Year of Intentional Making is about making with attention, learning from one another, and building momentum through connection and a shared purpose.

2026 Challenge Schedule

The Year of Intentional Making unfolds slowly over the year, with one focused challenge every other month. Each challenge is “on” for one month, followed by a built-in break before the next begins.

This intentional pacing allows time for making, reflection, and real life — without the pressure of constant deadlines.

Upcoming Challenge Themes

March : Scraps
A month dedicated to working with leftovers, offcuts, and small pieces. Explore creative ways to use what remains, experiment without pressure, and see scraps as opportunities rather than limitations.

May : Mending
Focus on repair, care, and extending the life of well-loved garments and textiles. This challenge invites thoughtful mending, visible or invisible, and a slower approach to upkeep.

July : Repurposing
Reimagine existing pieces and materials. This challenge centres on transformation - altering, reworking, or combining what you already have into something new.

September : Stash
Spend time intentionally with your fabric and materials stash. Clarify what you have, make purposeful choices, and work with stored materials in a way that feels supportive rather than overwhelming.

November : Finish It
A return to finishing. Close out the year by revisiting unfinished projects, tying up loose ends, and creating a sense of completion, however that looks for you.

  • The Year of Intentional Making follows a slower, intentional pace, with one focused challenge every other month.

Each challenge is “on” for one month and includes two live virtual gatherings. The following month is a scheduled pause or a time for self-directed continuation, depending on what feels supportive.

During pause months, participants are welcome to continue working at their own pace and stay connected through the shared online challenge space. This ongoing space allows for informal check-ins, progress updates, idea-sharing, and conversation, without additional live meetings or expectations.
