Tilda Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt Along : Strip Piecing a Pixel Quilt the Smart Way
We Did the Math on the Tilda Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt
The Tilda Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt is a free pattern. It's also 2,268 squares.
Pixel quilts at this scale feel like a serious commitment. The standard construction method asks you to piece every square individually, one at a time, across a 42 × 54 grid.
We sat down and mapped the whole thing differently.
Using pre-sewn colour pairs and chain piecing sequences, we worked out a smarter construction order for this pattern. What we found: fewer than 200 of those 2,268 squares actually need to be cut individually. The rest can be handled in pairs and sets that are chain pieced, pressed, and assembled in roughly half the time.
We're calling it the workroom NOTES for the Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt - our complete companion guide to making this pattern the clever way. It's the foundation of our next Community Sew Along, starting in June 2026.
Here's what the Sew Along includes:
- the workroom NOTES - our full strip piecing plan for the Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt by Tilda
- 4 x Zoom meet ups over 8 weeks
- Cutting checklist and pressing reference
- A community of makers working through it alongside you
- A dedicated online space where you can access the resources, Zoom replays and post your progress and questions.
The Sew Along is $60 to join. Kits start at $300 and include everything you need in Tilda Chambray Basics, the fabric collection the pattern was designed for.
Already a member? The Sew Along is included in your the workroom studio membership. If you're not a member yet - this is our second sew along of the year, plus our bi-monthly Challenges are ongoing. Members also get 10% off everything in the shop (including the kit), and a community worth being part of. Just $280 for the year.
We're still finalizing all the details - dates, Zoom schedule, kit options and we want you to be the first to know.

Handmade Wardrobe Year Mid Year Cohort
When the Handmade Wardrobe Year started in January, it was an experiment in commitment - a consistent group of makers showing up together, class after class, for a full year. What that creates, it turns out, is something you can't replicate: a community that builds alongside the skills. Four months in, this cohort has worked through nine garments.

Merchant & Mills Weekender Bag : Community Sew Along
A community sew-along for the Merchant & Mills Weekender Bag
The Merchant & Mills Weekender Bag is thoughtfully designed, beautifully utilitarian, and full of satisfying construction details. It’s the kind of make many of us want to start, but don’t always find the time to finish on our own.
That’s exactly why we’re hosting a Community Sew-Along.
