Sashiko : The Untold Story
Sashiko has become a popular buzzword in the fashion and craft world, often oversimplified in its mainstream adoption. Japanese Sashiko Artisan Atsushi Futatsuya seeks to restore its true essence in Sashiko: The Untold Story. This book offers a rich history and philosophy of Sashiko, exploring its stitches, traditions and proper application. Celebrating this historical technique, this book delves into its origins and addresses the cultural appreciation of this craft. Through captivating location photography, decorative illustrations, and personal stories, Atsushi reveals the wisdom, mindset, and techniques behind Sashiko. More than just a skill or style, Sashiko embodies a deeper essence found in the spaces between the stitches. Join Atsushi on a journey with Sashiko artisans, discovering the unseen aspect and intricacies of this ancient craft. This thoughtfully crafted guide is a must-have for all hand stitchers eager to delve into the art of Sashiko.
We quickly sold out of first copies of Sashiko : The Untold Story last week, when we posted them. The books arrived this week and this book is truly a beautiful way to dive deeper into this craft from a cultural and historical perspective. If you missed grabbing a copy, we've set up a new open preorder for this book, plus the Sashiko Card Deck, Sashiko Stencils and Simply Sashiko Book. We can hardly keep these items in stock, so this is your opportunity to add to cart to get one or all of these resources. This preorder will close Sunday night - order by then to reserve the items you want. We carry a full selection of thread and accessories to help you explore this Japanese embroidery technique this summer.
