We're throwing something new into the mix before we close the show in Parkdale. We've edited Ron Collins visit to include a Custom Fit Pant Workshop!

Achieve your fit on a pair of pants you’d like to make. Join our special guest instructor, Ron Collins, for Custom Fit Pant Workshop (Special 3 Session Edition!) This workshop is open to one pattern of your choice - basic pants (draw string or elastic waist), jeans, fitted or dress lined pants.

Ron will identify your desired fit and give you the necessary alterations (flat seat, protruding seat, low seat, knock/bowed legs, gaping waistband, length, etc.) so that you can create your custom fit.

Maximize your personal consultation time with Ron and have your muslin sewn for the pant or trouser pattern you intend sew or bring a previously made pair you’d like to improve the fit on.

  • Students can work on pants from woven, stretch woven or knits. Please make sure the pattern suggests that fabric type.
  • Patterns can be from independent companies or other patterns companies (for example, Vogue/McCalls/Burda/Butterick).
  • Students are welcome to bring pants that they are currently sewing on and need assistance with fitting or construction. (Please bring any notions required to work on pants (zipper, lining, interfacing, stay tape..etc)
  • We suggest the students to have a muslin sewn up for the workshop in their pattern of choice (there is a very good chance that the fitting shell might not fit to their style or body type) in the suggested fabric to maximize their time. Any alterations (crotch depth, full seat, flat seat, high or low hip, notched legs, bowed legs, pants length, leg width etc) required for the muslin will be transferred to the pattern for future garments.

Supply list: pattern, fabric, fitting tissue paper (Swedish Tracing Paper), tape, basic sewing supplies (thread, scissor, measuring tape, sewing machine needles, sewing gauge, pencil, marking tool for fabric and notions for pattern). Extra muslin fabric if second fitting shell is required.

This garment class meets each day for three consecutive days, beginning Wednesday October 23, 24 & 25.
There will be a one hour lunch break each day.

Instructor : Ron Collins
