One of our favourite corners of The Button Dept. is the collection of unique glass buttons, everything from clear vintage-inspired styles to tiny hand-painted florals. These delicate pieces are like little works of art that add something truly special to any project.

We especially love using the hand-painted ones, but we know they’re fragile. We wanted to better understand how they hold up when exposed to water and gentle detergent.

As a small, woman-owned, Canadian business, supporting other small, women-owned, Canadian businesses is at the heart of what we do at the workroom.

From sewing patterns designed in Montreal to embroidery kits stitched in Nova Scotia, publications conjured in Calgary, and dye kits grown right here in Toronto, we love bringing you beautifully made, thoughtfully designed products from across Canada.
