ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
Inspired by working women, with a dash of the Twenties. The Merchant & Mills Factory Dress slips over the head, features pockets and ready-rolled up sleeves.
WHAT YOU’LL MAKE
The Factory Dress in your choice of fabric - linen, linen blends, tencel, cotton chambray, very fine wool or corduroy.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- Sewing and pressing bust darts
- Constructing a reinforced patch pocket
- Building a fully enclosed two-piece collar - assembly, understitching, and attaching to the neckline
- Setting in sleeves
- Sewing in-seam pockets
- Core technique building blocks: staystitching, clipping/notching curves, layering and trimming enclosed seams, and neatening raw edges with a zigzag or overlock
WHAT YOU’LL GET
- 6 hours of live online sewing instruction across 3 Thursday evening sessions
- Multi-camera demos - top-down, machine-level, and table view, so you see exactly what’s happening at every step
- Video replay access to every session, with detailed written notes for each one
- A dedicated online workshop space for sharing progress, asking questions, and connecting with fellow students
- Lifetime access to all Factory Dress replays, notes, and resources
A NOTE ON FIT
We’ll cover fit and sizing in the first session. Due to the nature of Zoom workshops, complex fitting is beyond what we can cover thoroughly, but you’ll leave the first session knowing your size and what simple adjustments to make before you cut.
