Did you know?

Did you know that Karyn Valino, co-author & photographer of Handmade Getaway, is also the founder of the workroom, Toronto’s beloved hub for crafting and creativity? As she closes the doors of the Parkdale Studio in November, Karyn is embarking on an exciting new chapter in the Almaguin Highlands where she is restoring a Historic General Store.

With nearly two decades of experience teaching and inspiring others, Karyn has built a vibrant community of makers through her fabric shop, workshops, and retreats. Her passion for sewing, craftsmanship, and collaboration shines in everything she does—from curating beautiful fabrics to co-hosting immersive retreats that spark creativity and connection.

Handmade Getaway is a reflection of her love for bringing people together to create beautiful things.
