The Merchant & Mills Honey is a maxi sundress with a mitred bodice, gently elasticated back, and a gathered skirt that works beautifully in lightweight fabrics. It’s also sewable as a top. The pattern rewards fabric choice - prints, checks, plains, and handlooms all read differently in this silhouette. This three-session Zoom sewing workshop focuses on construction: understanding the mitred bodice, working with gathers, and getting the elasticated back casing sitting right.

WHAT YOU’LL MAKE

A Honey Dress  or top in a lightweight fabric of your choice: linen, chambray, seersucker, cotton lawn, poplin, tencel, or an Indian handloom cotton all work well.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • Reading and working from a garment pattern
  • Constructing and sewing the mitred bodice accurately
  • Working with and creating gathers evenly
  • Sewing and installing an elasticated back casing
  • Fabric selection for lightweight garments with volume

WHAT YOU’LL GET

  • 6 hours of live online sewing instruction across 3 Saturday morning sessions
  • Multi-camera demos - top-down, machine-level, and table view, so you see exactly what’s happening at every step
  • Video replay access to every session, with detailed written notes for each one
  • A dedicated online workshop space for sharing progress, asking questions, and connecting with fellow students
  • Lifetime access to all Honey Dress replays, notes, and resources

A NOTE ON FIT

We’ll cover fit and sizing in the first session. Due to the nature of Zoom workshops, complex fitting is beyond what we can cover thoroughly, but you’ll leave the first session knowing your size and what simple adjustments to make before you cut.
