Workshop Description

The Assembly Line Cuff Top is a clean, modern wardrobe staple with beautifully balanced proportions. With its relaxed shape and signature elasticated cuffs, it’s a fast, satisfying sew and an ideal first garment project or a refreshing palette cleanser for experienced makers. Many students end up making more than one.

In this workshop, I sew the full garment from start to finish, offering detailed instruction and opening a window into my complete thought process. You’ll see exactly how I evaluate each step, make decisions, troubleshoot, and adjust as I go. My goal is to teach you the “why” behind the pattern so you can build lasting confidence in your own sewing practice.

Over three live Zoom sessions, we’ll construct the entire top together. We’ll focus on good foundational skills - clean seam finishes, how and when to personalize small details, and simple pattern adjustments that can shift the look and fit of the garment.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to read and work from a garment pattern

  • A simple modification for removing or shifting the front seam

  • How to insert the elastic cuff

  • Tips for sewing and understitching the neckline facing

  • Options for securing the facing cleanly

  • Thought process and troubleshooting throughout construction

What You’ll Get

  • 6 hours of live instruction over 3 weeks

  • Multi-camera demos (top-down, machine view, table view) so you won’t miss a detail

  • Replay access to every session

  • A dedicated online workshop space for posting progress, troubleshooting, and connecting with fellow students

  • Lifetime access to all Cuff Top replays and resources

Please Note

Fit will be discussed in a general way, and you’ll learn how to make simple adjustments. Due to the nature of Zoom workshops, personalized or complex fitting is beyond the scope of this class.

With clear demonstrations, thoughtful explanations, and ongoing access to the materials, this workshop supports you far beyond the live hours. The skills you build here will carry into every garment you sew.

Pattern Requirement

You’ll need The Assembly Line Cuff Top pattern for this workshop.

Please have your pattern and fabric ready for our first class. We’ll walk through sizing, measurements, and how to interpret the pattern’s intended fit before you begin cutting. This sizing conversation is an important part of the learning in this workshop.
