Sweet Sixteen Sale & Celebration : August 19th
Sweet Sixteen Anniversary Festivities on August 19, 2023, 11am-5pm
Save the date on your calendar here!
If you joined us for our ten year anniversary back in 2017, the day will be very similar. Doors open at 11am with the first one hundred customers receiving a ticket they can redeem at the cash desk on their way out for a special swag bag filled with goodies from our generous vendors, friends and neighbours with any $50 purchase. There will be a store-wide discount, so you can also treat yourself to any of the amazing things that are currently rolling in to the shop over the next seven days, including Merchant & Mills. We will have some special guest vendors in the shop for the day as well. Enjoy refreshing frozen Paletas from @hielitobits, pick up a new piece of porcelain jewelry from @catmamola or a beautifully illustrated card, sticker or artwork from @kathydecastroillustration. Lastly, there will be a grand raffle prize you can buy tickets to win a wonderful assortment of goodies. Keep an eye this coming week on our instagram @_theworkoom. We'll be showcasing all the donations and swag there for you to see throughout the week leading up to next Saturday. If you can't make it or don't live in Toronto, we'll be posting raffle tickets in our online shop and having a one day sale for you on Sunday August 20th, so you can still celebrate with us from afar!
Our Limited Edition Sweet 16 Tote Bags are finished and on their way to us from BC. They will arrive just in time. We can't wait to show you how they turned out!
Please note! This will also be the final day that the shop will be open to the public. The following week, we'll be packing up and dismantling the shop for our two big moves to our new locations in Parkdale & Sprucedale.

Caring for Our Vintage Hand-Painted Glass Buttons
One of our favourite corners of The Button Dept. is the collection of unique glass buttons, everything from clear vintage-inspired styles to tiny hand-painted florals. These delicate pieces are like little works of art that add something truly special to any project.
We especially love using the hand-painted ones, but we know they’re fragile. We wanted to better understand how they hold up when exposed to water and gentle detergent.
Shop Canadian Small Businesses
As a small, woman-owned, Canadian business, supporting other small, women-owned, Canadian businesses is at the heart of what we do at the workroom.
From sewing patterns designed in Montreal to embroidery kits stitched in Nova Scotia, publications conjured in Calgary, and dye kits grown right here in Toronto, we love bringing you beautifully made, thoughtfully designed products from across Canada. We've made it easier than ever to spot these Canadian makers with a special flag as you scroll through our site.
Join Us for the Spring Maker Market and Half Birthday Celebration in Sprucedale
We're making plans to welcome everyone, from everywhere, up to the workroom for our Spring Maker Market and Half Birthday Celebration on Saturday April 12, 2025, 12-5pm!
