THE WORKROOM PARKDALE : This workshop is scheduled to take place in our new studio at 207 Cowan Avenue, Unit A. We can't wait to welcome you there!

Elevate your knit skills by sewing the cozy-chic Plateau Joggers by Closet Core. These semi-fitted loungewear pants pack a tremendous amount of techniques and skills into the construction methods. Sew them up as pants or shorts in jersey, French Terry, or Ponte and your choice of a fabric cuff or gathered elastic hem. The unique design of the wrap-around pockets is a great learning opportunity for constructing with knit fabric. Students have the option of making this garment on a sewing machine or serger, according to their experience.

Closet Core Plateau Jogger pattern is not included. This pattern is available for purchase through our online shop here. Each student must purchase a copy of the pattern prior to class.

Prerequisite: This is an intermediate sewing class. Students must have previously completed a sewn garment and have some experience sewing knit fabric. To use a serger for this class students must have completed our Serger Essentials class or have equivalent experience.

Please note: As we all sew at an individual pace, projects are not always completed during class hours. Class participants have complimentary access to our Parkdale Studio space during Sew By The Hour times until their workshop project is completed.

This class is four 3-hour sessions that meets each Wednesday, October 9, 16, 23 & 30.

CLASS SUPPLIES : Class fees include workshop registration and in-shop use of sewing machines and irons. All supplies, materials and personal tools are to be provided by each student, unless otherwise specified. Upon enrolment, a Class Confirmation and Supply List will be emailed by our shop team so that these items can be gathered or purchased prior to the class. We welcome a visit, call or email with any questions regarding this workshop and the required supplies prior to registration.

CANCELLATION POLICY : Class fees are non-refundable. Any cancellations or changes to your registration must be done at least 72 hours prior to the class start date in order to be issued a store credit. Cancellations that are made less than 72 hours before the class start date and students who do not show up to class will forfeit their class fee.

Through this workshop series you will learn the following skills:

Stabilizing knit fabric in key areas to sew and topstitch stretch fabric without it warping
Sewing a buttonhole in stretch fabric or ribbed knit
Constructing unique wrap-around pockets
Construction on a sewing machine or serger with knit fabric and ballpoint needles
How to cleanly serge in the round
Applying patch pockets on stretch fabric
Joining wide elastic in the round
Sewing a fabric cuff or gathered elastic hem
Topstitching with zigzag stitches and optionally a twin needle
How to make your own drawstring from light-medium weight knit fabric including easy tube turning

Our bright Parkdale Studio is equipped with Bernina sewing machines and sergers, large cutting tables and ironing stations. Students will also learn to use specialty presser feet, essential sewing machine features as required for their class project.
