Ultimate Jean Fitting Workshop : with Ron Collins : starts Tuesday April 25, 10am-5pm for 4 sessions
Join our special guest instructor, Ron Collins, for his Most Ultimate Jean Fitting Workshop.
This workshop will begin with a review of Ron's jeans and jean jackets that showcase various techniques from seams, zippers and waistbands in a variety of fabrics, such as, traditional denim, twill, linen, gabardine and faux leather. Students will learn the different stitches that are used for top-stitching and how to use heavy top-stitching and decorative stitches on your sewing machine. As well as how to cut down the bulk in the waistband to avoid a lumpy front closure.
Ron will teach some time-saving techniques for professional results in bar tacking, belt loops, hems and rivets.
Ron has sewn the “Ginger Jeans" pattern by Closet Core in both views, A (low rise) and B (high rise) in a total of 28 sizes (0-20)with the additional size 22-32 in view A. The workshop will continue with students trying on any of the samples to determine their desired fit.
Ron will identify fit issues and give you the necessary alterations (flat seat, protruding seat, low seat, knock/bowed legs, gaping waistband, length, etc.) for your jeans before cutting into your pattern.
You will also learn how to sew a hidden stay front to create a smooth and clean silhouette, giving the appearance of a flatter front. Sew the world’s best fly zipper technique that moves the zipper further into the garment and prevents the zipper from being exposed at the center front.
This garment class meets each day for four consecutive days, beginning Tuesday April 25, 26, 27 & 28.
There will be a one hour lunch break each day.
